After meeting of the guide at your hotel and boarding a comfortable vehicle, you will be taken to the Medeo skating rink, from where you will continue by a cable car to the starting point of the trekking route. The way to the Bogdanovich glacier starts from the pass at the height of 3200 m above sea level. From the pass, a good tamped trail goes up with a slight slope, and then zigzagging up to the moraine ridgee. Then, almost without climbing, you will approach the tongue of the Bogdanovich glacier along the stone scree. Further, coming up to the beginning of the glacier, you will have rest and lunch with a magnificent panorama of the surrounding peaks. After the trekking day you will be delivered back to your hotel.
Bogdanovich Glacier is located under the eastern slope of Nursultan Peak. The glacier was named in honor of the Polish-Russian professor-geologist Karl Bogdanovich, the researcher of the earthquake that occurred in the town of Verny in 1910. After the Vernensky earthquake in 1910, he came to Verny to conduct research. His stay here resulted in works that contributed to seismology and outlined the tectonic scheme of the region. Also in 1910, he took part in drawing up of a plan for the city of Verny. From the observation point of the Bogdanovich Glacier there is a magnificent view of the surrounding peaks of Amangeldy, Nursultan, Karlytau and many others.
