Itinerary

Day 1 You will meet your guide at 7:00 AM at your hotel, and then we will depart from Almaty to Taldykorgan. Upon arriving in the city around 10:00 AM, the first stop will be the Museum of Local History, followed by lunch at a local cafe. Afterward, we will proceed to the town of Tekeli and then to the Tekeli Stele, marking the starting point of a hiking route along the Kora Gorge to Apiary #5. Well enjoy stops along the way for rest and photo opportunities. Upon reaching the apiary, we will set up camp, explore the surroundings, and conclude the day with dinner.

Day 2 – We will have breakfast at 8:00 AM before embarking on a hike up the Kora Gorge to Apiary #10. Rest and lunch stops will be included along the way. The ascent is gentle and suitable for hiking, with the route passing through picturesque forests and meadows showcasing a vibrant carpet of flowers. Upon reaching the apiary, we will set up camp, and have a dinner cooked over a fire or on a gas stove.

Day 3 – Following breakfast at 8:00 AM, we'll proceed along the Kora Gorge towards Asylbay Glade. As we ascend, the landscape transforms, with birches giving way to lofty mountain plateaus, and numerous waterfalls cascading from majestic rocky peaks. Routine stops will be made for rest, lunch, and photo opportunities. Upon reaching the destination, a tent camp will be established. Then you can explore the surroundings and return to the camp for dinner.

Day 4 – Following breakfast at 8:00 AM and packing up, we'll continue our journey up the Kora Gorge to reach the Taubulak Eco-Camp. Upon arrival, lunch and accommodation in wooden cabins will be provided. Next, we'll embark on a circular hike to the Burkhan-Bulak Waterfall, the tallest in Kazakhstan, situated at an altitude of 2000 meters (6560 ft) with a height of 112 meters (367 ft). After the hike, we'll return to the camp for dinner in the local dining room and some well-deserved rest.

Day 5 – After breakfast at 8:00 AM and packing up, we'll begin our descent down the Kora Gorge toward Basmatchiy Pass. We will have lunch during one of the stops along the way. This day will be the longest and most challenging. At the end of the hiking route, we'll reach the road near the village of Kapal, where a car will be waiting to transport us to Taldykorgan for dinner. Following dinner, we'll journey back to Almaty, expecting to return to the city around 11:00 PM.

Important Information and Recommendations:

    Age restriction: 16+
    Ensure that you have a current and valid passport with you on the day of travel.
    If you have any specific dietary requirements or restrictions, please inform us at the time of booking so that we can make appropriate arrangements. Traditional local cuisine typically includes lamb or beef, dough, and milk products.
    For a comfortable trekking experience, ensure you have the following essentials: comfortable clothing which does not restrict movements: shorts, pants, leggings, and t-shirt; cap or panama hat for sun and heat protection; tourist trekking boots; Gore-tex or other membrane water and wind resistant jacket and pants; extra set of warm clothing for spending nights in the mountains, warm socks, beanie or warm hat, gloves, head-torch, sunglasses, sunscreen, water container, thermos for the tea, trekking poles, personal aid kit, energy bars or other snacks.
    This tour does not require special mountaineering equipment and skills, however, participants should be well-trained and be fit enough to overcome long distances with a heavy backpack.
