Upon meeting your guide at your hotel and boarding a comfortable vehicle, you will be transported to the starting point of the route near the former Alma-Arasan Health Resort. The trekking path follows the course of the Prohodnaya River. In the beginning, it features a rocky trail and crosses two bridges. Continuing, you will see the Girl's Tears Waterfall. Then, we'll go higher to reach a pine-birch grove. The trail leads through a thicket of raspberries, offering a bountiful harvest of sweet ripe berries in the autumn.
Around 3 kilometers (1.9 mi) past the waterfall, you'll approach a deep canyon with the Big Iguzek stream at its base, which tends to dry up in the summer. Crossing it is manageable, with visible trails in several spots. Beyond the canyon, the trail winds through the forest, occasionally opening up to small clearings. Next, we'll reach the Terra Glade, situated at an altitude of 2650 meters (8695 ft) above sea level. Getting to it requires crossing the river via a bridge constructed from two iron pipes. From the glade, the prominent Pila Peak standing at 4000 meters (13120 ft) is clearly visible, and a charming lake provides a perfect spot for recovery and relaxation. The city of Almaty can be seen from the glade's edge. After a rest at Terra Glade, you will follow the path leading to the final destination of the route – Alyoshka’s Bridge, a climb that takes no more than 15 minutes. The return journey follows the same route, and after a rewarding day of trekking, you will be safely transported back to your hotel.
Situated on the northern slope of the Ile Alatau Mountains at an elevation of 1780 meters (5840 feet), Alma-Arasan Gorge is one of the most picturesque places near Almaty. It's often referred to by the informal yet widely used name Prohodnoye Gorge. Alma-Arasan serves as the easiest and shortest route to the intermountain valley of the Chon-Kemin River, the Kungei Alatau Range, and Kyrgyzstan's Issyk-Kul Lake.
