Upon meeting the guide at your hotel and boarding a comfortable car or minivan, you will start the tour with a visit to the Museum of Almaty.
The Museum of Almaty is an engaging museum equipped with multimedia resources. It will fascinate you with its extensive collections and a diverse array of ancient exhibits. It offers a brief yet thorough journey through the history of the region, spanning from the Silk Road to the present day.
Upon departing from the museum, you will take a brief pause to acquaint yourself with the architecture and history of the Abay Opera and Ballet Theatre. Following this, you will explore one of Almaty's oldest parks, the Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen, home to the Ascension Cathedral – one of the world's most beautiful wooden buildings. Within the park, you will also encounter the Memorial of Glory and Eternal Flame, accompanied by insightful narratives from the guide, and have the opportunity to appreciate the Museum of Folk Musical Instruments. The visit to the park will span approximately 40 minutes.

The Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen commemorates the heroic act of 28 soldiers during World War II, specifically the Battle of Moscow. These soldiers, part of the 316th Rifle Division and led by Major Ivan Panfilov, valiantly defended their position against an overwhelmingly superior enemy force. Despite being vastly outnumbered and outgunned, they held their ground for 36 hours, fighting until they expended their last bullet and took their last breath.
The following highlight is the renowned Green Bazaar, a must-visit destination where resisting the temptation to shop is virtually impossible. This presents a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of an Eastern market, complete with vibrant colors, enticing aromas, and bustling crowds. Here, you can purchase local products and souvenirs, but be sure to engage in the art of bargaining. The market transactions are conducted in the local currency, tenge, so it's advisable to have some on hand. Following your shopping excursion, you can enjoy lunch at one of the numerous cafes or restaurants in the central part of the city.

Established in 1868, the Green Bazaar stands as one of Almaty's oldest markets. It continues to enjoy popularity, reminiscent of its late 19th-century status, and features a diverse selection of traditional Kazakhstani items and products. Notably, the market is renowned for offering the famous Almaty Aport apple.
Following lunch, the mountain segment of the tour commences with a journey to Medeu Gorge, situated at an elevation of 1690 meters (5545 ft) above sea level. This area is renowned for hosting the world's highest mountain skating rink and a dam that safeguards the city from potential mudflows. A brief stroll offers you the opportunity to capture scenic mountain views, snap photographs, and savor the invigorating scent of fresh pine trees in the crisp mountain air.
Perched at an elevation of 1690 meters (5545 ft) above sea level, the Medeu Skating Rink claims the title of the world's highest mountain skating rink, boasting the largest artificial ice field covering 10.5 thousand square meters. Embraced by majestic mountains and benefiting from the pristine mountain water used for ice, this rink has set the stage for more than 200 world records in speed skating. Widely recognized as the "factory of records," the Medeu Skating Rink is not limited to athletes; it extends a warm welcome to all skating enthusiasts. Adjacent to the rink is a mudflow protection dam, accessible via the "Health Ladder," a staircase comprising 842 steps.
From Medeu, you'll embark on a cable car journey to Shymbulak Ski Resort. After a scenic ride above the magnificent fir trees lasting approximately 20-25 minutes, you'll arrive at the resort's first level. Renowned for its mild climate, abundant sunny days, consistent winter snowfall, and stunning mountain ranges, the resort offers a brief opportunity for a leisurely walk and picturesque moments with breathtaking mountain peaks in the backdrop. Following this, you'll descend via the same cable car route and return to the city. Along the way, you'll be treated to an intriguing story explaining why Almaty is often referred to as "the Apple City."
Nestled in the scenic gorge of the Ile Alatau Mountains, Shymbulak Ski Resort is just a 15-minute drive from the heart of Almaty. Established in 1954, it served as a training base for Soviet skiers from the mid-1950s onward, hosting championships of the USSR and Kazakhstan on its slopes. The resort comprises three levels, with the highest situated at an impressive altitude of 3200 meters above sea level.
Your adventure extends to the summit of Kok-Tobe Hill, home to the iconic Kok-Tobe TV Tower. At the hill's peak also lies a park, inviting you to wander along its meandering paths. From the hill's summit, a breathtaking panorama unfolds, showcasing the city and the majestic Ile Alatau Mountains. The summit can be reached via a winding road or a cable car, starting from the Palace of the Republic. At the hilltop, stands the renowned 372-meter TV tower, a distinctive symbol of the city and its tallest structure.
