Following your hotel pickup, we'll start our journey to Issyk Lake through the historic Kuldja tract, traversed by trade caravans centuries ago. Along the way, we'll see Scythian burial mounds where the renowned Golden Man, a symbol of Kazakhstan, was unearthed. We'll also visit the Issyk Historical and Cultural Reserve-Museum, featuring exhibits on Scythian history and culture, including a replica of the Golden Man, golden artifacts, ancient ceramics, weaponry, and elements of horse equipment.

The Issyk Reserve-Museum encompasses the Issyk necropolis, where the tomb of the Golden Man was found in 1969. The unearthed tomb of the Scythian warrior was the only unlooted burial in Central Asia. The necropolis offers a unique glimpse into the region's history, particularly the Scythian period. The museum showcases the artifacts found during the excavation and provides a comprehensive exploration of Kazakhstan's past. Adjacent to the museum's building, the cultural landscape includes barrow mounds.
After lunch at a cafe, we will drive up to an elevation of 1756 meters (5760 ft) above sea level, reaching the stunning Lake Issyk. Revel in the majestic beauty of its turquoise waters and the surrounding mountains. Your guide will provide insights into the natural disaster that happened here in 1963. The estimated return time to your hotel is 6:00 PM.
Lake Issyk, formed by a massive landslide around 10,000 years ago, is nestled amidst mountains, forests, and alpine meadows. The lake boasts picturesque shores adorned with Tien Shan spruce. The enchanting turquoise hue of the water imparts a unique charm, drawing travelers worldwide to marvel at its beauty. In 1959, Lake Issyk gained popularity among vacationers and became a sought-after tourist destination. Notably, Nikita Khrushchev, the Soviet Union leader, and Ho Chi Minh, the leader of the Vietnamese independence movement and North Vietnam's communist leader, visited this scenic lake. In 1963, the lake was almost annihilated by a massive landslide that also claimed thousands of lives.
