BalQaragai Recreation Area
BalQaragai Recreation Area lies just 20 kilometers (12 mi) from Astana, within the so-called "green belt" encircling the city. The "green belt" is a substantial tree-planting project initiated around Astana. The landscaping endeavor commenced in 1997, and over time, it has transformed into a lush forest, earning its reputation as the "lungs" of the city.

Additionally, guests can rent snowmobiles or indulge in sledding and ice skating. For those seeking equestrian experiences, horse and pony rides are available year-round.

To get to BalQaragai, you can take bus #318 from the "House of Ministries" bus stop in Astana. Alternatively, you can opt for a taxi or drive there by car. If you're driving, follow the Astana-Karaganda highway. Make a right turn at a prominent road junction after crossing the bridge. This will put you on a bypass road leading to the Shubar and Malotimofeevka settlements. As you continue along this route, you'll encounter clear signs guiding you to the BalQaragai recreation area.
