Jailau Ethnic Village is situated in a picturesque setting within an elk breeding farm, 11 km (7 mi) from Lake Borovoe. Amongst the scattered yurts, one can find sculptures depicting individuals adorned in traditional clothing engaging in various activities such as cooking, playing the dombra, dancing, and wrestling.

Visitors are immersed in a festive atmosphere, providing them with the opportunity to delve into the rich culture of the Kazakh people. The village hosts a variety of national horse games, including the baiga – a long-distance cross-country race where riders showcase their agility and skills.

Within the ethnic village, accommodations are available in yurts, and visitors can partake in handicraft masterclasses, engage in traditional games, try their hand at archery, experience the therapeutic benefits of kumis and shubat (traditional dairy drinks), enjoy the thrill of altybakans (swings), and savor the flavors of national dishes. How to get there?

Address: Akmola Region, Burabay district, 7 km northeast of Zeleny Bor village

To reach the Jailau Ethnic Village from Astana, follow these directions: Take the A-1 highway, then transition to R-223, leave behind the village of Borovoe (Burabay) and continue driving along R-223. After you pass by Zeleniy Bor, you’ll see the intersection of three roads, turn right onto R-227. After approximately 1 km, make another right turn towards the Forest Farm elk breeding farm, where the ethnic village is situated. The entire trip spans 266 km (165 mi) and typically takes around 3 hours.
