Three Sisters Rock

The Three Sisters rock formation in the Burabay (Borovoe) resort area is a striking cascade of three rocks located northeast of the Glade of Abylai Khan. Their heights range from approximately 450 to 575 meters (1476-1886 ft).

Elder Sister, the tallest at 575 meters, is situated near Mount Kokshetau. The rock is accessible from the north side, but it is recommended that individuals who are not accustomed to moderate physical exertion, as well as children and the elderly, avoid attempting to reach the peak.

Middle Sister, standing at 475 meters, presents the greatest climbing challenge among the three, requiring some climbing skills. In contrast, Younger Sister, at 450 meters, is the most accessible and can be easily climbed by anyone. It is also the closest to the Glade of Ablai Khan.

Locally, the first two rocks are often referred to as the "hedgehog" due to their distinctive shapes. The Middle Sister resembles a hedgehog's nose, while the Elder Sister looks like its body, creating the impression of a hedgehog lying on its back.

How to get there?

The easiest way to reach the Three Sisters rocks is from the Glade of Abylai Khan, where you will find a sign marking the trailhead. The rocks are located northeast of the glade, and the path to their base winds through the forest. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes for the hike.
