Ulguli Waterfall
One of the most popular attractions in Zerenda is the Ulguli Waterfall. It’s situated on the Shagalaly River, which flows through the North Kazakhstan and Akmola regions. The name of the waterfall is derived from the village of Ulguli, which means "exemplary" in Kazakh.
Local legend has it that many years ago, young people from nearby villages would compete at the waterfall. The winners had the honor of renaming the waterfall after their village. It is believed that the residents of Ulguli emerged victorious, hence the name Ulguli Waterfall.
The Ulguli Waterfall is nestled in a canyon, surrounded by rock formations and oddly shaped stones. A lush forest envelops the area. The water cascades down from a height of 10 meters (33 ft), creating a thunderous sound.
The best time to visit is in mid-April when the snow has melted, and the waterfall is at its fullest. In the summer, the waterfall transforms into a gentle stream.
Visitors are reminded to respect the environment by cleaning up after themselves, avoiding damage to trees, and refraining from tying ribbons for wishes. Preserving the pristine beauty of this place is essential for future generations to enjoy.
How to get there?
Accessing the waterfall by car is the most convenient option, as it is situated just 100 meters from the road connecting the villages of Karsak and Ulguli in the Akmola region.
