Akbulak Ski Resort
Akbulak is a high-mountain resort in the Ile Alatau Mountains, near Almaty. During the winter months, guests can partake in skiing, snowboarding, or tubing. An elevation ranges from 2600 meters to 1400 meters above sea level. The winter temperatures typically hover between -2 to -15 degrees Celsius (5-28 oF).
Akbulak boasts a variety of trails catering to all skill levels. Intermediate skiers can tackle the Solnechnaya, Berezovaya, and Ak Su trails. Thrill-seekers can test their mettle on the Dombra trail, known for its steep slope and black diamond rating. Beginners and children can train in the ski school, under the guidance of professional instructors. Equipment rentals are available for those who do not have their own gear.
The resort is equipped with Italian and Austrian ski lifts, providing easy access to the slopes. After a day of skiing, guests can unwind in the sauna, indulge in spa treatments, or take a dip in the pool. The resort also has a gym, tennis court, football field, bowling alley, and billiards.
In the summer, Akbulak offers guided hikes in the surrounding mountains, mountain biking, ATV rides, horseback riding, mushroom and berry picking, and riverside picnics. Guests can also partake in breathing exercises, yoga, and Nordic walking.
How to get there?
Address: Almaty region, Talgar district, Ryskulovo village, 1a/1 Soldatskoye Gorge St.
Akbulak Resort is located 45 km east of Almaty. To get there by car, take the Talgar Highway and head east without making any turns. After passing Ryskulovo Village, turn right at the junction towards the mountains. Continue driving past the Alatau Ski and Biathlon Complex, and you will soon arrive at Akbulak.
Alternatively, you can reach the resort by taking bus #224. The bus departs from the Baluan Sholak Arena, travels through the center of Almaty, and reaches Akbulak in approximately an hour and a half.
