Lunar Canyon

Lunar Canyon, also known as Yellow Canyon, is a segment of the larger Charyn Canyon. Positioned amidst the Charyn River and the Kuluktau Mountains, this geological wonder owes its name to the extraordinary rock formations that resemble lunar landscapes. Crafted by the patient hand of water and wind, these distinctive rock shapes stand as testaments to the forces of nature.

Adventurers can ascend to the canyon's summit, allowing them to marvel at its otherworldly beauty. The canyon is called «yellow» because of the clay in the rocks, which gives them that color, though this hue changes with the shifting light. Alternatively dubbed the Valley of Yurts, the gorge boasts rock formations that resemble the traditional dwellings of the Kazakh people.

The Charyn River winds its way through the gorge, and it's a nice place for visitors to take a break. Spring and autumn are the optimal seasons to explore Lunar Canyon, as the summer months bring scorching heat. Bear in mind that Lunar Canyon is encompassed by the Charyn National Park, so there's an eco-fee to pay when you visit.Лунный каньон
