Tulpar Classic Car Museum
In the town of Konayev, there is a museum showcasing vintage cars from the 1940s to the 1970s. This museum features a collection of USSR-era vehicles such as Volga, Moskvich, Zaporozhets, Soviet police cars, ambulances, motorcycles, and even a Cadillac.
Committed enthusiasts
The museum was founded by Murat Sirgebaev. Along with his friends, he spent years collecting cars from scrapyards and restoring them. They established a small service station dedicated to this purpose. Thanks to them, these classic cars were not left to rust but instead given a new lease on life.
However, the cars were not restored in a completely historically accurate manner. Some were repainted in non-original colors or have modifications like roofs cut off. But they are all in working condition. On special occasions, these cars participate in motorcades through the town.
In addition to the impressive car collection, the museum also displays various Soviet household items such as televisions, cameras, military uniforms, civilian clothing, dishes, toys, and more.
The memory of Dinmukhamed Kunayev
One of the museum's most prized possessions is the Chaika car, the same model that transported Dinmukhamed Kunayev, the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan. Additionally, the museum showcases the railway carriage that Kunayev used for his business trips. This carriage was constructed in 1979 in East Germany on a special order. Following the dissolution of the USSR, the carriage was used to take tourists on rides. Later, it was purchased by a philanthropist who restored it and generously donated it to the museum.
