Ayusai Waterfalls
Ayusai Gorge, translated as the Bear Gorge from Kazakh, is a captivating destination that entices travelers with its waterfalls. The gorge welcomes visitors with the sight of three bear sculptures. Adjacent to the sculptures is a visitor center, providing essential information and services to enhance the tourist experience.
The journey to the waterfalls offers a chance to breathe in the pure mountain air and relish the picturesque scenery of the surrounding mountains.
The first waterfall, located a mere 700 meters (766 yd) from the gorge entrance, stands tall at 6 meters (20 ft) in height. It remains a popular spot, attracting a steady stream of visitors due to its accessibility. However, caution is advised as one approaches the falls, for crossing the river requires careful navigation on slippery stones.
To continue the expedition to the next waterfall, travelers must take a path that winds around the first cascade. The second waterfall is half the height of its predecessor, but no less enchanting. Embraced by lush greenery during warmer months, this area transforms into a snowy wonderland during winter, covered by a soft blanket of snow.
For the intrepid souls seeking the highest and most majestic waterfall, the journey continues from the second waterfall on the right side of the river. The path to the third cascade spans 1.5 kilometers (0.6 mi) and reaches an impressive altitude of 2200 meters (7218 ft) above sea level. As travelers approach the final waterfall, they may be surprised to encounter snow even at the beginning of summer. This occurrence is a result of spring avalanches, which can still linger in the higher altitudes. Consequently, it is advisable for tourists to avoid the second and third waterfalls during the spring-winter period.
The third waterfall stands tall at 10 meters (33 ft), claiming the title of the tallest waterfall in the gorge. While Ayusai Gorge is a captivating wonder of nature, it is essential to acknowledge its potential risks. Venturing beyond the third waterfall without experienced guides is not recommended due to the treacherous terrain.
