Baiken Mosque

Baiken Mosque, located in Almaty, stands as a magnificent testament to Islamic architecture and honors the memory of Baiken Ashimov, a prominent Soviet public figure and former Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR. Built in 2014, this relatively new mosque has already captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike.

The mosque's exterior is a sight to behold, with its snow-white structure adorned with a golden dome and four minarets. Stepping inside, one is greeted with a meticulously designed interior that adheres to Islamic canons. The spacious halls are segregated for men and women. The walls are adorned with beautifully crafted paintings of surahs from the Quran. Additional facilities such as ablution areas and shoe lockers, a necessity for proper prayer etiquette, can also be found. Notably, the interior decoration incorporates elements of Kazakh national ornaments.

Unlike traditional mosque layouts, Baiken Mosque offers entrances on all four sides, as it is surrounded by streets. While lacking a courtyard, the mosque compensates by maximizing natural light through numerous windows and stained-glass panels. This creates a bright and spacious ambiance throughout the year. Moreover, modern sound equipment is installed, allowing for the resounding call to prayer, known as the azan, to be proclaimed clearly and melodiously.Мечеть Байкен

The capacity of Baiken Mosque impressively accommodates 3,000 individuals, providing a place for a large number of worshipers to gather. It is important to note that when visiting the mosque, observance of purity in both body and thoughts, as well as appropriate attire for men and women, is obligatory.
