Family Park

Family Park, established in the 1990s, has firmly secured its place among the top three favorite parks in Almaty, alongside Central Park and Fantasy World Amusement Park. True to its name, Family Park caters to kids and their parents. It offers a wide array of attractions such as carousels, a Ferris Wheel, roller coasters, a children's playground, bowling, karting, a mini zoo, a water park, and a café. Its lush green spaces, flower beds, and shady alleys contribute to the park's overall charm. The park also features two stages for hosting entertainment events, as well as retired military equipment like a gun, an airplane, and a helicopter, adding an interesting historical touch. Notably, the park's entrance is designed to resemble fortress towers.

Graveyard of Fallen Monuments

Adjacent to the park, you'll find the intriguing Graveyard of Fallen Monuments, situated near the Saryarka cinema. This unique place houses old monuments dedicated to significant figures from the Soviet era, which lost their relevance following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Here, you can encounter monuments to:

  • Vladimir Lenin, the leader of the Bolshevik revolution in 1917, whose statue once graced Astana Square (replaced by a monument to M. Mametova and A. Moldagulova). It's worth noting that the sculptor of this Lenin monument is the renowned Evgeniy Vuchetich, known for creating "The Motherland Calls" in Volgograd, the Soviet Soldier monument in Berlin, and the sculpture "Let's Beat Swords into Plowshares," standing at the UN headquarters in New York.
  • Mikhail Kalinin, a Soviet politician and revolutionary, whose monument once stood near Almaty 2 railway station (replaced by a monument to Abylai Khan).
  • Mikhail Frunze, a Soviet revolutionary, politician, and military theorist.
  • Fighters of the October Revolution (now replaced by a monument to Raiymbek Batyr).
  • Maxim Gorky, a renowned writer, Marxist, and revolution supporter.
  • Dmitry Furmanov, a Russian writer, revolutionary, and military officer.

How to get there?

Address: Almaty, 57a Ulugbek Ave.
