Molodezhny Peak

 

The Molodezhny Peak stands tall at an impressive elevation of 4147 meters (13606 ft). Nestled between the Kumbelsu and Small Almaty gorges, it forms an integral part of the Kumbel ridge.

Renowned among freeriders and climbers, the peak attracts adventure enthusiasts seeking an adrenaline rush. However, even regular tourists can embark on the journey with the necessary equipment in tow. Reaching the pinnacle, mountaineers and nature enthusiasts will see a red container with a pen and journal inside. One can leave behind a personal record. Some generous climbers also leave assorted sweets and snacks, undoubtedly a pleasant surprise for fellow mountaineers.

On the northern slope of the mountain, at an altitude of 3400 meters (11150 ft), lies the Glaciological Station of the Institute of Geography. This research facility is dedicated to studying the mysteries of glacial formations.

The ascent to the summit commences with a picturesque trail that meanders through stunning gorges. As the journey progresses, the landscape transitions into pointed rocky cliffs known as gendarmes, a term familiar to seasoned mountaineers. How to get there?

To reach the Molodezhny peak from Almaty, start by heading to the Alpine Rose tourist complex along the R-22 road. From there, take a left turn and continue to the Tereshkova pass, crossing it. Proceed to the Trapeze Pass, which leads to the Titov Pass. Finally, the trail to the peak takes you through the challenging Tuyuksu Glacier. Be prepared for difficult terrain and cool temperatures, even in summer.
