New Terraincure
During the scorching summer months in Almaty, escaping the hustle and bustle of the city for a leisurely stroll along a refreshing river is a common desire. People usually head to the terraincure, a recreational trail winding along the Malaya Almatinka River under the shade of trees. However, if you've already explored the well-trodden paths of the old terraincure, you might be seeking a new adventure. Luckily, in the summer of 2022, a new terraincure was built in the city. This new trail features benches, lanterns, and sports and children's playgrounds.
The trail spans approximately 7.5 km (4.3 mi) with a 660 m (2165 ft) difference in altitude. The new terraincure begins at the intersection of Al-Farabi Avenue and the Esentai River, near the Esentai Mall. From there, it meanders up the road towards Medeu.
How to get there?
If you want to walk the new terraincure from top to bottom, consider taking buses #29 or 12 to the Muztau stop (the final stop for bus #29). Once you arrive near the Bellagio restaurant, follow the path that winds through the dense trees and crosses the river via a bridge.
Alternatively, you can begin your journey from the Agroleskhoz stop and descend towards Al-Farabi Ave.
For a different experience, you can also traverse the terraincure in the opposite direction – from bottom to top, which may present a slightly more challenging route.
