Tourist Peak

Tourist Peak, standing at 3,954 meters (12972 ft), is among the most easily accessible peaks near Almaty. Climbing this mountain does not require specialized climbing equipment or extensive training, but it is essential to come prepared with the minimum necessary trekking gear. Additionally, exercising caution is paramount, especially during the winter months.

It is believed that this peak offers one of the most breathtaking panoramas of the Ile Alatau Mountains. At the summit, visitors will see a plaque installed in honor of the Kazakhstani climbers who lost their lives in the mountains, including A. Boukreev, M. Galiev, I. Iodis, D. Sobolev, and others.

Please note that the peak is situated within the border zone, so remember to carry your identification documents with you.

How to get there?

Before trekking to the summit, you need to reach the Cosmostation, situated approximately 30 km (19 mi) from the center of Almaty. It is accessible by car. Alternatively, one can take bus #211, travel to its last stop, and then trek to the station. The distance between the Cosmostation and the summit is 2.6 km (1.2 mi).
