State Puppet Theater
The State Puppet Theater, established in 1935, is one of the oldest theaters in Kazakhstan. Now it boasts two halls – a spacious one accommodating 214 seats and a more intimate setting with 60 seats.
The theater's repertoire features productions in both Kazakh and Russian. Over its extensive 80-year history, the State Puppet Theater has not only enthralled audiences in Almaty but has also showcased numerous performances in cities such as Tashkent, Petropavlovsk, Arkhangelsk, Aktau, Zhezkazgan, Bishkek, Kazan, St. Petersburg, and beyond. Additionally, the theater has embarked on international tours, participating in festivals across China, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Japan, and Tajikistan.
The stage of the theater serves as a canvas for adaptations of children's fairy tales and classic literary works. Throughout its history, the theater's actors have employed various puppetry techniques, utilizing both simple cane puppets and intricate creations.
