Central Museum of Railway Transport of Kazakhstan
In 1999, several exhibition halls were opened within the Turksib Administration building. At that time, the esteemed railway worker B. Shormakov generously contributed exhibits to the museum. Additionally, local residents also donated personal items, enriching the museum's collection. Several years later, the museum found a new home in the Almaty branch of the Kazakhstan Railways Company.
The museum's collection tells the story of the railway transport network's evolution in Kazakhstan. Among the fascinating artifacts are a Morse telegraph, switchboards, antique lanterns, and various vintage equipment. Notably, the museum displays a bronze bell from the early 20th century, once heralding the arrival or departure of trains. The exhibits also feature detailed models of engines, carriages, internal combustion locomotives, and more.
A focal point of the exhibition is the model of the Turksib (The Turkestan-Siberian Railway), showcasing miniature replicas of trains and railway stations. The small trains are always in motion and the rhythmic illumination of traffic lights brings the railway model to life.
