Palace of the Republic

The Palace of the Republic serves as the primary concert hall in Almaty. It was originally constructed in 1970 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Vladimir Lenin's birth, who was the founder of the Russian Communist Party and leader of the Bolshevik Revolution. In 2010-2011, the building underwent significant renovations. The original design featured a striking golden roof composed of scaly plates, creating the illusion of a floating structure, the auditorium resembled an amphitheater without balconies and tiers. The hall was adorned with red, white, and gold colors, showcasing a national style in its lobby and foyer. With a seating capacity of 3,000, it held numerous cultural events.

However, the recent reconstruction of the Palace of the Republic has significantly altered its appearance and features. The iconic golden roof, distinctive ceiling, and grand chandelier, among other details, are no longer present. The building's facade has been transformed into a modern blue color, complemented by a contemporary LED screen used for advertising purposes. Additionally, the seating capacity has been reduced by approximately 500 seats.

Despite these changes, the Palace of the Republic continues to fulfill its role as a venue for diverse cultural events, mirroring its significance during the Soviet era. It remains a prominent location for concerts, festivals, conferences, congresses, and creative evenings. The stage has witnessed performances not only by Kazakh and Soviet artists but also by internationally renowned stars, including Mezzo, MuzART, Yalla, Yulduz Usmanova, Philip Kirkorov, Loboda, Ratovich, Marc Martel & Queen Show, Erisioni, and many others.
