Shukur Gorge

The Ile Alatau Mountains boast picturesque gorges that are home to centuries-old Tien Shan firs. One of the most beautiful of these gorges is the Shukur Gorge, which is situated between two other stunning gorges – Ozernoe and Kumbelsu – and can be found at an altitude of over 2300 meters (7546 ft). It's important to note that the gorge is part of the Ile-Alatau National Park, which means it is protected and preserved for generations to come.

Tourists love visiting Shukur Gorge because of its convenient hiking trails, which offer easy access to many of the area's most exciting sights, including glaciers, gorges, and peaks. Within the gorge itself, there is a charming little waterfall whose cascades tumble down a rocky slope, providing a tranquil backdrop for hikers and nature enthusiasts alike.

The natural beauty of the area is simply breathtaking, with stunning mountain vistas and unspoiled landscapes that will capture the imagination of anyone who visits. However, it's important to be prepared when hiking in the high mountains, as temperatures can be cool even in the summer months. It's recommended to bring warm clothes.

How to get there?

To begin your adventure to the Shukur Gorge, start by making your way to the Alpine Rose Mountain Resort. You can get there by following the R-22 road from Almaty. Once you arrive, set out on the hiking trail that will lead you to the gorge. Your first stop will be the Shukur Glade, then you will pass by the Moonglade hut. Later, you will come across the waterfall and eventually the Shukur Gorge.
