Almaty Sports Cluster

Around the Baluan Sholak Arena in Almaty, a major sports cluster has developed, bringing together the city's largest stadiums, swimming pools, sports complexes, and dozens of other sports organizations.

The district is located at the intersection of Abay and Baitursynov Avenues. At the heart of the cluster stands the Baluan Sholak Arena. Built during the Soviet era, it remains one of Almaty's premier sports and entertainment venues. It hosts national and international competitions, concerts, and large public events.

Just a short walk away is the Central Stadium, the city's largest stadium and one of Kazakhstan's most recognizable sporting venues. Adjacent to it is the Small Sports Arena, which serves as a venue for training sessions and competitions.

The cluster also includes the Central Swimming Pool, now operating as part of the Rakhat Fitness sports club. Nearby, the Dostyk Sports Complex hosts training sessions and competitions in team sports such as volleyball and basketball.

An important educational component of the district is provided by the Academy of Tourism and Sports, which trains specialists for Kazakhstan's sports and tourism sectors. The area is also home to the Gymnastics Academy, a volleyball club, a martial arts school, a karate center, and many other sports organizations. Sports attractions in Almaty, Kazakhstan
