Sunkar International Ski Jumping Complex

The Sunkar International Ski Jumping Complex was constructed for the 2011 Asian Winter Games, replacing a former Soviet-era ski jumping site that had fallen into disrepair. The complex encompasses an area of over 15,000 square kilometers. Accommodating an audience of 5,200, the amphitheater offers a panoramic view of the events hosted within.

The primary focus of the complex lies in facilitating disciplines like ski jumping and Nordic combined. The standout features of the jumps are their impressive size, with the largest ones spanning 90 meters and 125 meters. These leaps are made for international competitions, attesting to the world-class standards of the facility. There are also smaller springboards ranging from 20 to 60 meters, serving as training grounds.

City dwellers and tourists alike find solace in the Sunkar's panoramic vista, particularly captivating during the evening hours. Festivals, concerts, and cultural gatherings are often held there during holidays. The complex also host an array of events including the nostalgic «Almaty – My First Love» festival, Beu Fest, equestrian competitions, and more.

Gradually, the complex is evolving into a multifaceted recreational space. Picnics, hiking escapades, cable car rides, and the Gorilla Zipline Sunkar rope-jumping experience have surged in popularity. Moreover, the complex houses a well-equipped gym, a ski jumping school, and a medical center, catering to both sports enthusiasts and wellness seekers.
