Terraincure

Terraincure, a compound word derived from the English words «terrain» and «cure», is a recreational trail designed for walking and running. The uphill ascent should be at an angle of 3 to 20 degrees. Walking on such a trail provides a perfect body workout, improves blood circulation, and stabilizes one's psycho-emotional state. For optimal results, it's recommended to follow a regular routine, adjust breathing to the walking pace, and take small breaks of 1-3 minutes. After completing the walk, a rest of around half an hour is recommended.

The Almaty terraincure, also known as the Health Path, is a 4.5 km (2.8 mi) walking trail located in the eastern part of the city, leading towards the mountains to a height of 1060 m (3478 ft) above sea level. The higher it rises, the more secluded it becomes. It runs along the Malaya Almatinka River and is ideal for hiking and jogging. Bicycles and scooters are prohibited on the trail to ensure the safety of pedestrians.

The trail offers wooden stands with information, gazebos, benches, a pond with ducks swimming, bridges, tennis tables, and a playground. Additionally, workout areas are available to provide an extra physical activity boost. The scenic surroundings will please the eye, and lucky walkers may spot squirrels running between the trees. Monumental murals adorn the walls of nearby buildings and add to the area's aesthetic appeal.

In the summer of 2022, a new terraincure emerged in Almaty. It winds along the Esentai River, to the south of Al-Farabi Avenue. Find out more in this article.
