Tulebayev Street
Tulebayev Street, extending from Abay Avenue to Raiymbek Avenue, holds significant historical and cultural value in Kazakhstan. Named after the renowned Kazakh composer Mukan Tulebayev, who took part in composing the country's first national anthem, the street is a testament to the country's artistic heritage.
The street is associated with prominent figures who once resided there. Notable individuals such as the singer Batyrkhan Shukenov, the writer Mukhtar Auezov, and Dinmukhamed Kunayev, the first secretary of the Communist Party of the Kazakh SSR, lived on this street. Numerous memorial plaques adorn almost every building. Some of the honorees include M. Gabdullin, A. Syzganov, Sh. Satpayeva, G. Medoyev, S. Mukanov, L. Hamidi, and many others.
The street is home to several noteworthy attractions, such as the M. Auezov and D. Kunayev museums, monuments to Mukan Tulebayev and Viktor Tsoi, the leader of the rock group «Kino». The placement of Viktor Tsoi's monument is particularly significant, as it relates to the final scenes of the renowned film «The Needle» starring Tsoi that were filmed on Tulebayev Street.
Tulebayev Street has also witnessed the formation of the legendary A-Studio group, whose songs captivated millions of listeners. In addition to its cultural significance, the street offers various amenities and attractions. The Jetysu Fountain, S. Mukanov and G. Musrepov Literary and Memorial Museum Complex, House of Friendship, popular Arasan SPA-complex, and a multitude of shops, children's and sports grounds, gazebos, cafes, restaurants, and beauty salons line the street. Notably, a delightful tree-lined promenade featuring Tien Shan firs provides a serene and picturesque ambiance.
How to get there?
While public transport does not directly traverse Tulebayev Street, convenient access is available through several bus routes such as #16, 22, 37, 48, 63, 112, 118, 126, and 206. Additionally, trolleybus #9 can be taken to reach the street, with a stop conveniently named after it.
For those using the subway, the Abay station is a mere 300 meters (328 yd) away from the Jetysu fountain. The Museum of D. Kunayev is approximately 700 meters (766 yd) away from the Almaly station. Similarly, Zhibek Zholy station is located around 600 meters (656 yd) from the intersection of Tulebayev and Gogol streets. As one reaches the end of Tulebayev Street, Raiymbek Batyr station is just a short distance away.
