Jetysu Fountain
The Jetysu Fountain, designed by Mels Safin, graces the beginning of Tulebayev Street. Notably, Safin is also the creative mind behind the Nedelka Fountain. Erected in 1970, the Jetysu Fountain derives its name from the Kazakh language, translating to "Seven Rivers." This name is also a direct reference to the Jetysu region in the southeast of Kazakhstan.
The fountain's design is laden with symbolism. A circular pool at its center represents Lake Balkhash. Encircling this pool are seven granite blocks, each bearing the name of one of the region's seven rivers: Ili, Lepsy, Koksu, Tentek, Karatal, Aksu, and Chu. In essence, the Jetysu Fountain becomes a tribute to the geographical and hydrological richness of the Jetysu region.
