Kazakh National Academy of Arts

Founded in 1977, the Kazakh National Academy of Arts is a hub of constant creative activity. Its team actively performs and wins prizes in international competitions. Emphasis is placed on instilling a passion for creativity in kids and teenagers. To do it, the team has established an experimental youth theater that showcases both national and global dramatic masterpieces.

With a diverse array of faculties and specialties, the Academy attracts thousands of applicants annually. Options range from choreography, cinema, and television to theatrical and musical arts, painting, sculpture, design, and more.

The architectural character of the academy building reflects the style of many Soviet structures from the 1920s-1930s, featuring regular lines and a design palette in beige and brown shades. Prior to housing the academy, the building served as the headquarters for the Council of People's Commissars of the KazSSR. Positioned in front of the building is a monument honoring Temirbek Zhurgenov, the Minister of Education of the Kazakh SSR, a Soviet party, and statesman of the USSR.
