Boris Alexandrov Sports Сomplex
The Boris Alexandrov Sports Complex hosts hockey matches and is the home base for the Kazzinc-Torpedo hockey team. Construction began in 1964 and was completed four years later, initially offering a seating capacity of 5,200. A major renovation in 2001 reduced this capacity to 4,400. In 2011-2012 architects transformed the façade to resemble a goalie's helmet, a distinctive design that has been popular with visitors.
At the entrance, visitors are welcomed by a monument to a hockey player and a large LED screen. In 2010, the sports complex was named in honor of Boris Alexandrov, a distinguished Kazakhstani hockey player and coach.
