Hill of State Symbols of Kazakhstan
The Hill of State Symbols of Kazakhstan in Ust-Kamenogorsk is a landmark where large letters spell out the word "Kazakhstan." This inscription is visible from a distance. At the top, a towering 40-meter flagpole proudly displays the flag of Kazakhstan. Adjacent to the flagpole, visitors can admire the national coat of arms and anthem engraved in stone.
The State Flag of Kazakhstan features a rectangular field of blue with a central image of the sun and a soaring steppe eagle below. The sun symbolizes prosperity and abundance, while the steppe eagle embodies the strength, sovereignty, and aspirations of the state towards a prosperous future.
The National Emblem of Kazakhstan is circular in shape and showcases the shanyrak (the dome of a yurt) on a blue background, with uyks (poles that make up the dome) radiating outward like rays of sunlight. Flanking the shanyrak are depictions of mythical winged horses.

To reach the summit, visitors must ascend a staircase consisting of 482 steps. In addition to the state symbols, the hill offers great views of Ust-Kamenogorsk and the Irtysh River.
June 4th is celebrated as the Day of State Symbols of Kazakhstan. On this day, officials gather to take the oath at the hill. The occasion is marked by a festive atmosphere, with people coming together to sing songs and listen to the anthem of Kazakhstan.
How to get there?
The road that leads to the base of the hill is known as Poltavskaya Street. It ends at the parking lot adjacent to the hill. The closest bus stop can be found on Chernyakhovsky Street, which intersects with Poltavskaya Street. Route #7 runs through this area.
