Pionersky Island
Located on the section of the Irtysh River that flows through the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, lies an island known as Pionersky. This small island features a cozy alley that runs alongside the Irtysh River. Several years ago, a reconstruction project was undertaken here, resulting in the installation of sculptures, the planting of trees, and the placement of benches and lanterns. Strolling along this picturesque alley, visitors can enjoy the breathtaking view of the flowing Irtysh River. Some of the alley’s sculptures were generously donated to the city by talented sculptors from around the world.
One of the oldest sculptures on the island is a piece depicting open human palms, aptly named The Place of Reconciliation. Sitting on these reconciling palms is said to improve relationships and bring individuals closer to their loved ones. Another notable sculpture, Dialogue, was brought from Belarus and features intricately carved faces of people. Among the array of sculptures, Adam and Eve stand out. This statue, gifted from Ukraine, portrays a man and a woman symbolizing genuine, enduring love. Additionally, a sculpture of Irtysh and Ulba, also from Ukraine, symbolizes the merging of these rivers in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The two rivers are depicted as a couple in love.
Furthermore, the island houses iron hearts with locks. Couples make a wish together, inscribe it on a lock, and then affix it to the metal heart, symbolizing their commitment and love for one another.
The Pionersky Island offers visitors a serene and romantic setting, where art and nature intertwine to create a cozy atmosphere.
