Park of Jambyl Jabayev
The oldest park in Ust-Kamenogorsk, now named after the renowned poet and singer Jambyl Jabayev, was established in 1889.
Local residents have long enjoyed spending time in the park's shady alleys. During the summer, the open-air stage hosts theatrical performances. This stage saw many famous Soviet artists, including Vladimir Zeldin, Rina Zelenaya, and Alexander Menaker, among others.
When Ust-Kamenogorsk was smaller, the park was located on its outskirts. Today, it is part of the city center, welcoming locals and tourists daily. Some visitors seek solitude among the alleys, while others enjoy gathering with friends in gazebos. The flower beds and pleasant music create a cozy atmosphere.
The park features several sculptures created during the Sculpture, Stone, and Wood Conference held in 1989. In 2007, a bust of Jabayev was installed. In 2011, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence and International Children's Day, a playground with various attractions was built. In 2019, another monument to Jabayev was added, depicting the poet seated with a dombra in his hands. The poet's grandchildren attended the unveiling of the monument.
