East Kazakhstan Regional Museum of Arts
The East Kazakhstan Regional Museum of Arts, established in 1990, is housed in a remarkable 19th-century building. Its collection continues to grow steadily and currently boasts approximately 9,000 art objects. Among its treasures are pieces by Kazakh artists such as L. Ageykin, G. Ismailova, V. Schmidt, K. Kadyrbekov, V. Titov, M. Junusov, F. Moldabaeva, and many others. The museum's permanent exhibition, titled "Artists of Kazakhstan," showcases this rich artistic heritage.
In addition to the permanent display, the museum features rotating exhibitions, including "Echo of the Land," which focuses on traditional Kazakh musical instruments like the dombra (string instrument), dauylpaz (percussive instrument), sybyzgy (wind instrument), jetygen (multi-string instrument), and sazgen (bowed instrument). Another exhibit, "History of Literature of the Region," showcases the finest literary works by local authors.
The museum actively engages in expeditions across eastern Kazakhstan to enrich its collection with works by East Kazakh masters, writers, and artists. These expeditions also collect valuable biographical information about the region's outstanding personalities.
Over the past decade, the museum has hosted a range of competitions, including those focused on children's art, poetry, and other artistic forms. In the "Art Salon" exhibition hall, visitors can acquire artistic and decorative applied works of art, supporting the local art scene.
