Astana Circus

An eye-catching building

Exploring Astana, one cannot help but marvel at the futuristic structure resembling a colossal «flying saucer» that houses the city's circus. It's a sight that captures attention and fills onlookers with awe. The circus building boasts an expansive auditorium accommodating 2000 seats, complete with a VIP box, utility and administrative areas, dressing rooms, and animal enclosures. Adjacent to it stands a hotel featuring 113 rooms designed to accommodate foreign artists.

Before entering the circus, one encounters the captivating Alley of Fairy Tales. Adorned with statues portraying characters from Kazakh folklore, such as the clever Aldar Kose, who aided the needy and punished the indolent and stingy; the enigmatic witch Mystan Kempir, capable of enchanting passersby at any given moment; and the valiant hero Yer Tostik.

Continuing onward, a fountain comes into view, featuring a golden clown balancing on a unicycle while holding an umbrella in his left hand. Surrounding this centerpiece are sculptures depicting animals showcasing renowned circus acts, including a bear playing the accordion and a tiger leaping through a flaming hoop.

Circus extravaganza

Within the circus, one can witness an array of captivating performances encompassing acrobatics, gymnastics, illusions, clown acts, tightrope walking, and trained animals and birds. The artists' dedication and constant refinement of their craft seek to elicit a full spectrum of human emotions: from smiles and awe to fear and surprise, ultimately culminating in delight and pure joy. Among the well-known productions presented are «Banjo», «Jigits of Sary-Arka», «Trained Camels», «Illusion», «Cord-de-Parel», «Straps with Elastic Bands», «Transformation», the aerial spectacle «Bamboo», and many others.
