Qazaqstan Concert Hall
Flower vs Сabbage
The Qazaqstan Concert Hall is situated on the left bank of the Esil River, near the Akorda Presidential Palace, making it impossible to miss. Designed by architect Manfredi Nicoletti, the building's unique appearance resembles a «flower of the desert» according to the original concept, although some residents of the city liken it to a cabbage, perhaps due to its blue-green color and multi-layered facade.
Officially opened on December 16, 2009, coinciding with the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Qazaqstan Concert Hall stands as the largest venue of its kind in the country. It serves as the stage for concerts by popular Kazakh and international artists, hosting approximately 100 events annually before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
Key Features of the Hall
Upon entering through the main entrance, visitors are greeted by a vast 3000 sq.m. hall. To the right, large panoramic elevators are available for use.
The concert hall boasts a seating capacity of 3500. Its notable feature lies in its adaptability to different types of shows. Symphony concerts, operas, performances, and film screenings can all be successfully accommodated here.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, both the interior and exterior of the concert hall are adorned with special wood, contributing to an exceptional acoustic experience. Even the flooring is specifically designed with an acoustic slope. Even the curtains possess a unique acoustic property, attracting and reflecting sound.
Artists
The Qazaqstan Concert Hall has played host to renowned international performers throughout the years. Singers such as Toto Cutugno, Robertino Loretti, Alessandro Safina, Patricia Kaas, pianist Denis Matsuev, Russian pop artists, and many others have graced its stage.
Each year, the concert hall presents a diverse array of events, ranging from chamber music and jazz concerts to solo performances, literary evenings, and anniversary celebrations.
