Kazanat Racecourse
Boasting a track length of 1800 meters (1970 yd), Kazanat Racecourse offers an exhilarating experience for both participants and spectators alike. The name «Kazanat» is derived from the Kazakh language, where it signifies a purebred racehorse breed. As such, it comes as no surprise that this venue predominantly hosts competitions in national equestrian sports, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kazakhstan. Among the thrilling events held here are kokpar, baiga, jamby atu, and audaryspak.
Kokpar is a game where riders vie for possession of a goat carcass. The objective is to seize, secure, and ultimately hurl the prized trophy into the opposing team's goal.
Baiga brings forth the exhilaration of horse racing in various forms. The races encompass a range of lengths, complexities, and age categories. Notably, alaman-baiga stands out as one of the most demanding races, spanning long distances of 30 or 50 kilometers (19 or 31 mi) and featuring mature horses aged three years and above. Additionally, there are races designed for medium distances, typically spanning 3, 6, or 9 kilometers (2, 4, 5.5 mi).
Jamby atu captivates spectators with its display of archery skills, demanding participants to exhibit remarkable accuracy while shooting arrows from horseback at full gallop.
Lastly, audaryspak brings the thrill of wrestling to the horseback arena. In this contest, participants engage in a battle to dismount their opponents from their horses.
Adjacent to the racecourse, visitors will discover the presence of an equestrian health center and a riding center. A 13-kilometer horse trail meanders through the nearby forest, providing a picturesque setting for riders to explore and enjoy their equestrian pursuits. Additionally, children can revel in the joy of riding on little ponies specially provided for their enjoyment.
