Atatürk Park
Previously known as the Park of Four Seasons, this park underwent a significant transformation in 2009 when a monument commemorating Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the first President of Turkey, was erected, leading to its new name, Atatürk Park. Located in one of the busiest areas of the city, the park stretches along the scenic Esil River Embankment, at the bustling intersection of Tashenov Street and Kabanbai Batyr Avenue.
Despite its relatively small size, Atatürk Park is brimming with captivating attractions. Families particularly enjoy the numerous playgrounds tailored for children, complete with bike paths, swings, and hammocks. Furthermore, to cater to the growing popularity of skateboarding, scootering, and biking, a dedicated skate area was introduced in the park, featuring specially designed obstacles and figures suitable for both beginners and experienced riders.
What sets Atatürk Park apart is the respite it provides amidst the bustling cityscape. The abundance of trees acts as a natural sound barrier, muffling the noise emanating from the nearby road. The park's proximity to the serene Esil River offers a refreshing ambiance, creating an oasis of tranquility amidst the urban chaos.
The park's allure reaches its peak during the enchanting spring season when fragrant apple and lilac trees burst into bloom, saturating the air with their intoxicating scents. The park becomes a favored location for photography sessions and attracts numerous visitors who come solely to revel in the beauty of the lilac-white flowers. In winter, the park transforms into a winter wonderland with the installation of a Christmas tree. The festive atmosphere is further enhanced by the creation of ice figures and the construction of ice slides.
In 2022, Atatürk Park underwent an extensive revitalization project. Among the notable additions is a children's play area equipped with swings, benches, and a protective canopy, ensuring an enjoyable experience regardless of the weather. Furthermore, a monument honoring Yunus Emre, a renowned 13th-century Turkish poet whose literary contributions shaped Turkish literature, was erected.
