Museum of Saken Seifullin

The Museum of Saken Seifullin, located in the city of Astana, stands as a tribute to the life and illustrious achievements of the esteemed Kazakh statesman, poet, and writer, Saken Seifullin.

Nestled at the crossroads of Seifullin and Auezov streets, the museum resides within a 19th-century wooden structure, constructed in the distinctive Russian architectural style. The building boasts a high hip roof and is adorned with decorative carvings typical for Russian traditional architecture. Originally erected in 1846 as a merchant's office for record-keeping purposes, this historical gem later became the workplace of Saken Seifullin during the 1920s and 1930s. Later, the building transformed into a kindergarten before evolving into the Museum of Saken Seifullin in 1988.

The museum’s exhibition is displayed across six halls, featuring a collection of over five thousand items. The museum showcases personal belongings, photographs, books, and a rich array of archival documents that offer profound insights into Seifullin’s life and literary journey.

Saken Seifullin's indelible mark on Kazakh literature, culture, and politics is profound. As a poet, writer, and playwright, he played a pioneering role in shaping modern Kazakh literature. Additionally, Seifullin's leadership as the founder of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan solidified his influential position within the literary community. However, his accomplishments extended far beyond his literary pursuits, as he was also a prominent statesman and a member of the Bolshevik Communist Party. Throughout his life, Seifullin ardently championed the preservation of his people's culture, history, and language.
