Triathlon Park

Triathlon Park is a great destination for sports enthusiasts in Astana. Away from the bustling streets, the park enjoys a constant supply of fresh air, while boasting a stunning panoramic view of the left bank adorned with towering skyscrapers.

The park owes its existence to a prominent construction company, which built it in celebration of Astana's 18th anniversary. Since its inauguration in 2016, the park has served as a training ground for triathletes, but its appeal extends to all people seeking active recreation and leisurely enjoyment.

Although the park lacks tall trees, providing little shelter from the summer sun or the winter chill brought by the river breeze, this fact has done little to diminish its popularity. The park encompasses three interconnected circles, totaling 8 kilometers (5 mi) in length. The largest circle, spanning 2,300 meters (1.2 mi), caters to cyclists. The middle and inner circles, surfaced with special tartan coating, are designed for runners, incorporating winding paths with various inclines. All three circles intersect, carefully marked with directional signs to ensure the safety of athletes. Even in winter, the tracks are diligently cleared of snow, allowing skiers to train.

To enhance the convenience of park visitors, sports equipment rentals are available on-site. Furthermore, an array of recreational facilities awaits exploration, including a playground equipped with horizontal bars, a rope park, and three football fields featuring specialized surfaces. For younger visitors, there is a play area and a small zoo with rabbits and poultry.

Triathlon Park serves as a host for a variety of sporting events each year, with the internationally acclaimed IronMan 70.3 competition being the most renowned. Revered as one of the world's most challenging one-day events, the IronMan 70.3 combines swimming, cycling, and marathon disciplines.

Triathlon Park introduces new attractions and amenities annually. In 2020, a thematic platform inspired by Game of Thrones was introduced, featuring an imposing Iron Throne and sculptures of dragons and iconic characters. During winter, the park transforms into a winter wonderland, offering a skating rink and ice slides.

In 2021, the park expanded its offerings with the addition of two outdoor pools along the embankment. Adjacent to the pools, areas for food and relaxation were installed. Sun loungers and cabanas are placed near the pools, allowing for ultimate comfort and enjoyment. For children, a play complex in the form of a ship has become a popular attraction.
