Jetysu Park

Nestled amidst the bustling streets of one of the busiest districts in Astana, Jetysu Park emerges as an oasis of tranquility. The park is surrounded by residential complexes, business centers, shops, and cafes. The area is a hub of activity, often accompanied by the occasional traffic jam due to Sarayshyk street's heavy flow. So Jetysu Park offers a serene escape from the urban hubbub.

A tribute to the iconic region

The name «Jetysu» translates from Kazakh as «seven rivers», paying homage to the Jetysu region in southeast Kazakhstan. It was in this very region that the Kazakh people acquired their current name and solidified their identity as a nation. Moreover, the Kazakh Khanate was formed here, and this land has been inhabited by ancient tribes such as the Scythians, Uysuns, and Kanly, forming the very foundation of the Kazakh nation.

The park's allure unfolds as you enter through the main gateway, greeted by an avenue adorned with fountains. A picturesque landscape reminiscent of rolling hills and mountains then comes into view. At the end of this pathway lies Tengri Square, an homage to the supreme deity of the sky in Turkic mythology.

A journey through the nation

Symbolic representations of Jetysu are thoughtfully scattered throughout the park. An ash alley stands as a testament to the rare Sogdian ash grove, while replicas of renowned stones with ancient petroglyphs can be found in various corners. Additionally, an imitation of the Charyn Canyon provides an ideal backdrop for photo shoots. Flowing nearby is the decorative Ili River, merging into the simulated Lake Balkhash.

The heart of the park houses a map of Kazakhstan, crafted using a medley of flowers and shrubs. Consequently, Jetysu Park offers a unique experience akin to traversing the entire nation during a leisurely stroll.

Outdoor enthusiasts find solace in the park's offerings, with a well-equipped 1200-meter bicycle path that traverses its expanse. This trail doubles as a ski track during winter. Numerous sports facilities, ramps for skateboarders, and a rollerdrome that transforms into a skating rink in colder months ensure there is something for every active visitor. To enhance convenience, the park provides bike rental points, snack bars, and cafes.

Available for all

The children's area within the park boasts a diverse range of amenities, encompassing both indoor and outdoor playgrounds. These game complexes cater to different age groups and incorporate specialized equipment, fostering inclusivity for children with disabilities. Even the youngest visitors, starting from one year old, can revel in the park's delights, thanks to tactile game panels installed on the playgrounds.
