Atyrau Pedestrian Bridge

The Atyrau Pedestrian Bridge is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. It opened in 2001 for the 10th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence and was the world’s longest pedestrian bridge at the time. Its total length is 551 meters. It no longer holds the global record, but it remains the longest pedestrian bridge in Kazakhstan.

This is a cable-stayed bridge: the walkway is held by steel cables anchored to tall pylons, giving the structure a light, elegant silhouette. With no supports in the water, ships can pass freely beneath.

The bridge links Victory Park with the new Retro Park and the Zhilgorodok neighborhood. Its entrance is located near the monument to the Chernobyl disaster liquidators and the victims of the Semipalatinsk test site. A stroll across the bridge between the two parks is one of the city’s favorite walking routes and can be easily combined with a promenade along the embankment.

Other tourist attractions near the bridge:

  • Retro Park
  • Keremet Amusement Park
  • Victory Park
  • Alley of Soviet Monuments
  • Imangali Mosque
  • Infinity Eco Park
  • Youth Park
