Karaganda Museum of Fine Arts
Founded in 1988 as a branch of the Museum of Local History, the museum gained independent status just a year later. Since then, it has become one of Karaganda’s key cultural landmarks, tracing the evolution of Kazakh art.
The museum features four exhibition halls showcasing painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative arts, and handicrafts. Its collection includes works by both established and emerging artists from Kazakhstan, Russia, and neighboring countries. A special highlight is the collection of bookplates (miniature prints once placed inside books) donated by art historian and collector Sergei Ivensky.
The museum frequently refreshes its displays, hosts solo shows, and introduces new names to the local art scene. Each visit reveals something different, making it a place worth returning to time and again.
