Museum of the History of Rice Farming Industry

The Museum of the History of Rice Farming Industry is one of the most unique museums in Kazakhstan. Located in the Zhakaev village of the Kyzylorda region, the museum's placement highlights the area's significance in rice production. The museum is named after the renowned rice farmer Ibrai Zhakaev, a two-time recipient of the "Hero of Socialist Labor" title. Zhakaev's greatest achievement was his innovative method of growing rice, which earned him a place among the world's top rice farmers. He set a world record by harvesting 171 quintals of rice from just one hectare of land. Zhakaev's dedication and passion for his work enabled Kazakhstan to achieve significant success in rice cultivation.

The museum, originally opened in 1982 in Zhakaev's house, moved to a new, larger building in 2016 to accommodate its growing collection. Visitors to the museum can explore unique exhibits and various materials related to the history of rice cultivation. The museum also showcases different mechanisms used by rice farmers, and rice fields are cultivated around the museum premises.
