Mausoleum of Beltoran
The mausoleum of Beltoran stands near the mausoleum of Akshora, 47 km (29 mi) west of Fort Shevchenko in the Mangystau Region. The two mausoleums are very similar: both are made of limestone blocks and domes top both mausoleums. On the wall of the Beltoran Mausoleum, you can see an image of a stallion. It indicates that a man is buried inside. According to research, the building dates back to the 14th century.
There is a legend that explains why the mausoleum of Beltoran is so similar to the mausoleum of Akshora. These two people were allegedly lovers who could not be together. Their fathers were at enmity, but Akshora and Beltoran happened to fall in love with each other. Having learned about this, Durdy Kylysh, Akshora's father, planned to marry his daughter to a rich man. Beltoran and Akshora managed to run away, but Durdy Kylysh sent his men to chase them. Having realized that they'd been caught, Beltoran and Akshora jumped off the cliff and committed suicide.
