Kapamsay Canyon
Kapamsay is a long limestone canyon that was formed by a river, which eventually dried out. Its snow-white walls will make a perfect backdrop for some wow-worthy photos.
General information
Kapamsay Canyon’s walls reach 70 meters (230 ft) in height and its bottom is strewn with boulders. There is a huge grotto with mulberry trees and hawthorns growing inside. The canyon’s surface is covered with salt, and there are no sources of fresh water. Only a few species of animals and plants can survive such conditions. However, the canyon is home to lizards and rodents. Above the canyon you can see eagles soaring in the sky; their nests are hidden on the rocks.
At a height of 3 meters (10 ft), there is a cave in the canyon wall. Scientists assume that people once lived there, as ancient flint tools were discovered there. Tourists like to collect flint stones in the canyon. Some use them as decorations, while others believe that these stones can purify water.
