Konyr-Aulie Cave
The Konyr-Aulie Cave is one of the most remarkable sites in Bayanaul National Park. The cave is located inside Mount Akkaragay, a lengthy wooden staircase leads from its base to the cave's entrance. The cave draws pilgrims who believe their deepest prayers and wishes will be answered. Legend has it that spending a night in the cave can help fulfill one's desires.
Konyr-Aulie comprises two chambers spanning approximately 30 meters (33 yd) in total. Pilgrims pray within the first chamber, while the second chamber houses a stone "cauldron" filled with water. Within this basin, saltwater accumulates. This water is believed to have healing properties capable of curing various ailments and even infertility. Throughout history, women have journeyed to the cave in pursuit of motherhood, a tradition that persists to this day.
Beyond its spiritual significance, the cave offers breathtaking vistas, inviting visitors to capture its beauty through photography.
How to get there?
Location: Kazakhstan, Pavlodar region, Bayanaul National Park
The cave sits 17 km (10.5 mi) northwest of Bayanaul village, accessible by car from Karaganda and Pavlodar in approximately 3.5 hours. Alternatively, the journey from Ekibastuz takes around 1.5 hours.
Within the national park, signage guides visitors to the base of Mount Akkaragay. From there, a staircase ascends to the cave's entrance, requiring a brief hike on foot.
