Lake Toraigyr

 

Lake Toraigyr is the gem of Bayanaul National Park. It’s situated near the village of Toraigyr and ranking as the third-largest lake within the park. The lake takes on an irregular quadrangle shape, bordered by shores composed of sand, rubble, and boulders.

Toraigyr is surrounded by the Bayanaul Mountains and adorned with a coniferous forest. Access to it is limited to the western and eastern banks. Along the shore lies a beach equipped with sun loungers, showers, and toilets. This idyllic destination beckons those seeking respite from the hustle and bustle, offering a tranquil environment with clean, crystalline air.

Lake Toraigyr attracts fishing enthusiasts, as it’s home to a variety of fish, including crucian carp, pike, and perch. Notably, fishing here is free of charge.

The well-maintained and broad road leading to the reservoir provides a scenic drive along the lake, offering glimpses of the burial site and mausoleum of the esteemed poet Sultanmakhmut Toraigyrov, whose name was given both to the village and the lake.

Toraigyr, surrounded by its unspoiled natural beauty, exerts charm on visitors, leaving them enchanted by the stunning scenery.

How to get there?

Location: Kazakhstan, Pavlodar region, Bayanaul National Park

You can get to Bayanaul National Park from Karaganda and Pavlodar by car in about 3.5 hours. You can also get there from Ekibastuz in 1.5 hours. The lake is located on the northern slope of the Bayanaul Mountains.
