Youth Alley and the Tulip Fountain
Shymkent is home to not only expansive parks but also numerous charming squares and verdant alleys. One such green space is the Youth Alley, which runs along Momyshuly Avenue, one of the city's main thoroughfares. The alley is adorned with benches and installations that celebrate national sports and arts.
Nearby stands one of Shymkent’s most iconic landmarks – the Tulip Fountain. This monument replaced an earlier sculpture of a cotton plant. The fountain is crafted as a red tulip that sits in a three-tiered bowl with a diameter of 30 meters (98 ft). During summer, real tulips bloom around the fountain, and in the evenings, it is illuminated with lights.
