Baidibek Bi Monument
The Baidibek Bi Monument, located in Shymkent, proudly stands as the tallest monument in Kazakhstan. The sculpture itself reaches a height of 10 meters (33 ft), and when including its pedestal, it soars to a total of 23 meters (75 ft).
This monument was unveiled in 2012, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the South Kazakhstan Region. Baidibek Bi stands with arms outstretched, clutching what resembles a small rod in one hand. According to the creators' vision, these outstretched hands symbolize Baidibek's open-heartedness and generosity. Moreover, the sculpture is adorned in traditional Kazakh attire, featuring a national coat and a hat with upturned edges, all crafted from copper. The monument's grand pedestal is made from granite and bears inscriptions about Baidibek Bi, contributed by N. Nazarbayev, the first President of Kazakhstan.
Perched atop a hill, the monument is accessible via a set of steps. From this elevated platform, visitors are treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of Shymkent, with many of its notable attractions lying near the monument.
Baidibek Karashauly is a renowned judge and influential political figure who played a pivotal role in uniting the Kazakh people. His monument stands as a testament to his enduring legacy.
How to get there?
The monument is located on the Baidibek Bi Street. You can reach it by buses #17, 52, 66, 75, 126, 150, 171, and 171a. Disembark at the "Kainar" bus stop. It's just a 300-meter (328 yd) walk from there to reach the monument.
