Shymkent Opera and Ballet Theatre
Founded in 2007, the Opera and Ballet Theatre in Shymkent staged its first performance a year later. The theatre is housed in the former Palace of Machine Builders, a building constructed in 1984 and adorned in the Kazakh national style. The interior features a panel depicting traditional national dances, while the exterior resembles a medieval caravanserai. A sculpture of a girl holding a theatrical mask stands at the entrance, welcoming visitors. The concert hall has a seating capacity of 330. The theatre's repertoire spans plays in both Russian and Kazakh, and it also hosts concerts by local singers and symphonic music evenings.
